Plotting a child's height and weight on growth charts is an easy way to measure a child's general well-being. Since children with bone dysplasias are usually shorter than their peers, growth charts specific for their condition should be used.
Children with Achondroplasia often have a larger head circumfernce than their peers. Some children with Achondroplasia can develop a complication known as hydrocephalus. It is therefore important to monitor their head circumference by plotting it on growth charts made for Achondroplasia.
